The University of Newcastle (UoN), established in 1965 in Callaghan, New South Wales, is a large public higher education institution with additional branches in Ourimbah, Port Macquarie, Singapore, and Sydney. Offering a variety of courses leading to pre-bachelor's, bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees, it hosts about 20,000-25,000 students. Despite its selective admissions process based on entrance examinations, it has a high acceptance rate of 80-89%, indicating it's a least selective institution.
